Spring trees
Okay, I'm finally posting! Wahoo! Don't get too excited because I'm in the car with 6 kids and it's late and we've been driving for 4 hours with only 3 pit stops... I think you get the picture... This post may not last too long!
I don't know how all you amazing people do it all. My friend Kelly finally took pity on me and showed me how to put a blog page together. The problem is that that was over a month ago and now I don't think I can remember how she did it. I try to use the excuse of I don't have time to spend on the computer, but it doesn't work because most of you are in the same situation as I am and seem to fit everything in just fine. I wish I could say I had sparkly toilets all the time and piles of newly pieced quilts and an amazing garden... but no... I do, on the other hand, have peanut butter smeared doorknobs, a "goathead garden", a Teton sized mountain of laundry at any given time, about 6 unfinished novels next to my bed, and always the same question at the end of the day. What did I do today???
Life is flying by as usual. We all have a little spring fever and are anxious to spend time outside. Gary planted 200 trees in our lower field last week. Then he put in a watering system with a drip line to each little tree. All different kinds... Oak, Maple, berry, sycamore,...about 20 different varieties. So, in 20 years we'll have our own little forest! I even drove tractor a little bit to help! I never imagined myself doing that!

This picture is part of a typical day in the Bevan household. (I could add pictures of Bryan riding round and round our kitchen on his ripstick while Bekah practices the piano and Abbie sings at the top of her lungs,"Tomowow, Tomowow, I love ya, Tomowow... Yow only a day away...", while I'm trying to get dinner on the table so Gary won't be late for a meeting and so Nate can get his project done for his class... But, I think I'll just leave it at this...)
Nathan's Future City Competition #2
This year the Emmett Jr. High had 3 teams involved in the Idaho Future City Competition. Months of research, thought, planning, and building go into the cities that are sent to the competition. They spend all day presenting and being interviewed by many different teams of judges at the Boise State Engineering Dept. Schools from all over the state compete against each other. Nate's team was chosen as one of 5 finalists this year and awarded Best Team. This is the 2nd Year that Emmett has had a team in the top 5. Last year he was on the team that came in 3rd! This is such a neat program. Amazing what these kids come up with.

Summertime
Today is Aug. 4th. Our 14th Anniversary. Yes. It's midnight and I'm home alone (okay, I guess I shouldn't say that. Alone with six kids...) Gary has had some long weekend call shifts lately, so he can have time off for all the family stuff this summer. I can't believe it's been 14 years. We have been very blessed and are very happy.
I don't think I've ever had a summer quite like this one. I think we've had 2 days on the calendar without something big scheduled. Can you say CRAZY? Yes. We are. We've been to three big family reunions (one of which was at our house), girls camps (pleural because the bishopric goes), scout camp, priesthood camp, backpacking trips, swim team practices and meets, 4-H contests, piano lessons (with no time to practice), County fair, Youth activities, raftin
g trips... Next week Na
te and Bryan are going backpacking
again in Utah, Gary
is taking the priests backpacking for their "High adventure", We are going to Manti for Dawn's wedding, and then to Heber for family reunion #4, and are returning the day school starts. What ever happened to those slow, boring days in summer? They are no more.

Today I spent the day at the church tying quilts. I was just released as the Enrichment Leader, and in June we set a goal to make 100 quilts for the Humanitarian project by September 1st. Today we finished 13, which brings us to 90 quilts done!!! Wahoo! (We set up the gym with fun stuff for the kids and then we just quilt all day. ) It's been a great experience.
I just got called to be the 1st Counselor in Young Women. It's the first time I've been in YW since I was one. I'm scared to death but excited too. We have a really good group of girls. We are going to have to have Bryan be our babysitter every Wednesday. Gary has bishopric meetings along with the youth stuff. It's a good thing we have great kids.
I've not had the time to sit down and figure out how to be a cool blogger. So, you get no music, no flowers, no videos, and all the pictures are stuck together like a big glob of kindergarten glue ... but hey it's something, right? Hopefully someday we'll be able to look back and see where all our time went!
